Our founding can be traced to St. Andrews Lodge in Boston, where many of our country’s Revolutionary War heroes were members such as Paul Revere and John Hancock, including our first master Jeremiah Hill.
Since June 14, 1802 when the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts granted the charter, Saco Lodge has had many people active in the community. Jeremiah Hill, our first master, was a Revolutionary War Captain who fought in the battle of Saratoga, was Town Clerk of Biddeford and was a Representative in the Massachusetts legislature. Two other charter members also took part in the Revolutionary War, Joseph Leland who fought at Bunker Hill and Ephraim Ridlon who was an aid to Gen. Knox. Read more of our history here.
